Boostpack to Jetpack (A TRUE Jetpack Experience)
This mod essentially changes the way Boostpacks work in-game to be way more useful, in and out of combat. Boosting is no longer just single press, now you can hold and hover or glide for extended periods of time, as well as tap for a boost. Yup that’s right! You’re going to love this mod!
Press jump key twice to use Boost Up. Hold jump key to Hover and Glide. You can also use this in combat to get a ‘High Ground’ advantage over your opponents.
There are multiple variations of the mod to choose from. Only install one.
Main mod is the intended version. But there also exists a Slow Energy Drain version and even a cheating Regenerative Energy version.
Installation Instructions:
In order for this mod to work properly, it needs to be installed a very specific way. Please read instructions carefully to ensure you get the proper experience.
Also, obviously, your character needs to have a Boostpack equipped for this mod to work.
Install mod to your game directory, next to the Starfield.exe. (It should be 3 txt files)
Gamepass version should be located here: “C:\XboxGames\Starfield\Content”
Then in your My Documents\My Games\Starfield directory, you will need to edit or create ‘StarfieldCustom.ini’.
Add these lines to that file using a text editor (notepad is fine):
[General]
sStartingCo nsoleCommand=bat gravity;
[Boostpack]
bUsePressAndHoldCo ntrols=1
[Controls]
bMouseAcceleration=0
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.021
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.03738
fIro nSightsPitchSpeedRatio=1
fPitchSpeedRatio=1
fGamepadLookAccelSec=0.8800
fGamepadLookMultExpo nent=0
fGamepadLookAccelYawMult=0.88000
fGamepadLookAccelPitchMult=1
The [Controls] section is not required but I felt it gave a better experience so I put it in.
NOTE: Remove any spaces after the ‘o’ in the quotes above when editing your file. I had to put them due to limitations with Nexus Mods. Sorry for any confusion.
Next, you will need to launch your game and load a save.
Open the console command in game by pressing the (~) key located just above your Tab key.
Type this line and press enter:
bat jetpackon
Save your game. All future saves, including this one, will have the mod enabled.
Enjoy your new jetpack.
Uninstall Instructions:
To uninstall the mod you will need to open the console command menu again and type this and enter:
bat jetpackoff
And again save your game afterwards. All future saves will have the mod disabled.
You will also have to remove these lines from your StarfieldCustom.ini that you added earlier:
sStartingCo nsoleCommand=bat gravity;
bUsePressAndHoldCo ntrols=1
Notes:
Unfortunately, due to the magic of Bethesda animations, this mod is best experienced in First Person. 3rd person is playable but your character can be a bit wacky up there. Not my fault.
The different planet’s gravities affect the physics of the Boostpack. This mod contains a workaround that forces all planet’s gravities to the same value. Fortunately, this doesn’t seem to hinder the gameplay much as jumps still seem to vary from planet to planet, as intended. Only the Boostpack seems to be affected and should give a similar experience across all the planets.
This mod was made and tested using a Basic Boostpack. Not sure how the different variations will affect the mod because I haven’t got them yet. Hopefully nothing too crazy.
Finally, this mod does mess with Horizontal Boost functionality within the game. It still works but you will be able to fly ridiculously further than intended, that is until you release the button. Looking into a fix but not sure if there is one…
