Essence to Power
Don’t care for the Quantum Essence mechanic or have too many and want to do something useful with them? This mod allows you to convert a number of Essence to Power or Power Ranks using a hotkey or a bat file.
Using this mod, along with a hotkey, you can choose to spend 1, 5, 10 or 15 Quantum Essence (there is a version for each amount), granting you 1 Starborn Power or Ranking up one of your existing ones. This is a helpful alternative to doing NG+ over and over or have a NG+ you’ve settled on. This mod can also work hand-in-hand with my Starborn’s Bounty mod, so you have something to do with excessive amounts of Essence.
I personally use the 10 Quantum version with Starborn’s Bounty.
When using the conversion (through bat or hotkey), a shader effect will be played on the player if you have enough essence and it will notify you of how many of your essence remain. If you don’t have enough essence, a notification will warn you.
Requirements:
If you want to use as a hotkey, you will need Starfield Hotkeys.
Otherwise, there are no requirements but the base game.
Installation and Usage:
Simply download the version of the mod you wish to use and install into your Starfield folder (files are pathed from Data). You should be able to use either the core Starfield folder or the one in My Games. If using a Mod Manager, follow the guidance for that in terms of installation.
This mod adds a script, EssToPower, installed in Data/Scripts.
To set up as a hotkey with Starfield Hotkeys, create a hotkey followed by the following command:
cgf “EssToPower.Start”
So, for example, if you set up a hotkey for Numpad 8, you would do:
numpad8 = cgf “EssToPower.Start”
To use in game without hotkeys, you can simply open the console and type (not case sensitive):
bat EssToPower
Caveats:
The game does track how many universes you’ve been in (unities you’ve entered) but it doesn’t exactly track the player’s power rank in regards to if you have rank 1 in a power versus rank 10. So, when this mod gives you a power, you can get one you’ve never had before or it can rank up an existing one you do have. It is very possible that if you are high ranked in your powers, you just won’t get any upgrades any longer but there’s no way for the mod to check that and balance towards giving you something different.
I would use the hotkey/bat while standing up and visible in the camera. It plays an effect on the player so not sure if something odd will happen if you’re piloting or seated.
Try not to rapid fire the hotkey and allow a pause in-between spending essences. Also, sometimes the shader doesn’t play if you’re spending several times in a row.
