Starfield Allows Full Planetary Exploration After Landing
Once you land on a planet in Starfield, you can explore it entirely. Pete Hines from Bethesda clarified on Twitter today that players can indeed traverse an “entire planet” as soon as they touch down. In his response, Hines affirmed that after landing, players can instantly start their exploration journey.
Ummm @bethesda @DCDeacon @StarfieldGame when I land on a planet.. will I be able to explore that whole entire planet? ๐๐คจ๐ง

While Hines suggests seamless exploration, it doesn’t imply an absence of loading screens or cutscenes during planetary transitions. Recall the Starfield Direct, where cutscenes were shown for both landing and taking off from planets. Thus, instant seamless transitions from space to planetary surfaces might not be in the cards.
Hines likely means that, post-landing, no gameplay obstacles will hinder exploration. Players won’t be mandated to undertake tasks like planetary surveys before roaming around.
Star Wars Outlaws provides a feature that Starfield misses: smooth transitions from space to planet. In the game by Ubisoft Massive, players experience uninterrupted shifts between outer space and terrestrial exploration without the intrusion of cutscenes. A nifty point of contrast for enthusiasts.
On another note, a heads-up about Bethesda’s Starfield: it’s been released ahead of its official launch on September 6 (and September 1 for early access participants). Gameplay is already circulating online, so tread cautiously to avoid unintentional spoilers or plot revelations.
