Fast Start New Game
Bypass the Argos/Kreet/Atlantis tutorials to start a new game in ~ 20 seconds from the menu to Atlantis spaceport with the Frontier ship ready to join Constellation, or just fly off to do your own thing.
If you are just testing mods or want to try out new starts, bypass the initial Argos/Kreet/Atlantis tutorial on rails to start at Atlantis Spaceport in ~20 seconds from the menu with all player controls unlocked and quests primed.
Until dynamic Payrus scripting is avaliable the automatic start skips facegen, traits and background. You get the default face, no perks, no traits and a basic loadout from Argos mine exit with ownership of the Frontier ship.
Console [ ShowLooksMenu Player ] after the player loads in a new game to set face perks and traits.
Start any of the regular quests or just fly off to do your own thing.
Installation
(1) Extract: the 3 SKKFastStartNewGame.* files from the download archive to wherever you extract temporary files, or wherever Starfield.exe is located. It doesn’t matter, just know where they are. Now pick either 2a, 2b or 2c:
(2a) Automatic: if you don’t already use sStartingConsoleCommand:
From wherever you remember extracting the files using whatever file management tool you prefer (Windows Explorer ?) run SKKFastStartNewGame.bat when Starfield is not running.
This calls a Windows Powershell script to detect and handle the following configuration states:
a. No StarfieldCustom.ini – creates a new file and configures to fast start any new games.
b. Existing StarfieldCustom.ini with no sStartingConsoleCommand – adds the command to fast start any new games.
c. Existing StarfieldCustom.ini with existing sStartingConsoleCommand – prompts you to edit your startup file.
It only needs to be run once to configure all new game starts to be fast. If you want a normal new game start sequence you need to either remove sStartingConsoleCommand from StarfieldCustom.ini or revert the edit you made to your custom startup file.
(2b) Manual edit: if you do already use sStartingConsoleCommand:
Merge the content of SKKFastStartNewGame.txt with your existing startup file. Running multiple startup bat files is technically possible, but known to cause endless issues so is ignored by most mod authors.
(2c) Console: if you know what you are doing and just want to use the console, copy SKKFastStartNewGame.txt to the starfield.exe folder. From the main menu console [ bat SKKFastStartNewGame ] then pick [ New ] from the menu. When in Atlantis console [ ShowLooksMenu Player ].
Post Configuration
To change your face, add default perks and traits console or HOTKEYS.INI [ ShowLooksMenu Player ] after the player loads in a new game.
Known Issues
(1) It is unlikely that mod managers can automatically install this solution, just run the BAT file.
(2) If Powershell is disabled in Windows automatic configuration is not possible, use (2b) or (2c).
(3) You didn’t read the description and then complain that facegen, traits and background are not automatic.
(4) You don’t understand why not just reuse an Atlantis Spaceport save game.
