A temporary fix for Old Mars missing from the Steam edition

A small trick to enable Old Mars skins missing from Starfield Steam Edition from the key activation (e.g. Green Man Gaming).

Currently, even if you activated two codes on Steam:

Starfield – Preorder
STARFIELD DIGITAL PREMIUM EDITION

the depot (SteamDB Unknown Depot (Depot 2401181) ยท SteamDB) responsible for downloading OldMars.esm, OldMars – Textures.ba2 and OldMars – Localization.ba2 is broken (verification failed). So these files are missing from your “Data” dir.

But if you have access also to the gamepass edition (can be just the basic, standard version preloaded), you can copy these 3 files to your Steam Starfield “Data” directory and modify two files:

1. <your_location>\Documents\My Games\Starfield\StarfieldCustom.ini:

[General]
sTestFile1=OldMars.esm

2. <your_location>\common\Starfield\Starfield.ini

sResourceIndexFileList=Starfield – LODTextures.ba2, Starfield – Textures01.ba2, Starfield – Textures02.ba2, Starfield – Textures03.ba2, Starfield – Textures04.ba2, Starfield – Textures05.ba2, Starfield – Textures06.ba2, Starfield – Textures07.ba2, Starfield – Textures08.ba2, Starfield – Textures09.ba2, Starfield – Textures10.ba2, Starfield – Textures11.ba2, Starfield – TexturesPatch.ba2, OldMars – Textures.ba2, OldMars – Localization.ba2

3. Copy from e.g. <your_location>\Xbox Games\Content\OldMars\Data these 3 files:

OldMars.esm
OldMars – Textures.ba2
OldMars – Localization.ba2

to your <your_location>\common\Starfield\Data

Of course, you need to have your copy of these files and also, if you using any mods modifying these files or these entries in these two .ini files, you need to amend them instead of replacing them.

In the download section, I providing only my two .ini files! I won’t and I can’t provide OldMars files!

If you would like to try to download this depot from Steam anyway, use this command:

download_depot 1716740 2401181 9009164480135609609

in the Steam console (you need to run “steam://open/console”; type in the Star Menu “Run” and exec this command)

This “mod” will be archived when Bethesda/Valve will resolve this issue.
