Ranger Soldier Armor – First Officer Soldier Retexture with Normal Maps
Replaces the texture (including normal maps) for the First Officer Outfit to use the Freestar Ranger Badge. Fills the void of a sort of Ranger “heavy armor” in the game.
Some of you may have seen my other mod, a retexture of the First Officer outfit to fit a Ranger character. I really like the Ranger, space cowboy aesthetic as is evident by now. I’ve enjoyed putting together my little peacekeeper faction and so I wanted more armor selections than the vanilla Rangers offered. I’m not a big fan of a solid half of the vanilla ones which I may get around to messing with at some point.
After using my officer’s coat, I found I wanted to outfit some of the “soldiers” at my outpost, I wanted a heavier more armored Ranger outfit to go along with it. I think the First Soldier Armor looks pretty cool with the almost plate carrier looking thing so I retextured it with the Ranger Badges and decals to accompany it.
I’m really enjoying making these despite really not touching Bethesda game files for years, and pretty pleased with how the texturing on this came out and I think I might revisit the officer outfit at some point and improve the normal maps now that I’ve gotten used to fiddling with them a bit. It definitely adds a lot more depth to it. It looks pretty similar to how the badges work on the base game Ranger gear.
