Ship Module Snap Expansion – SMSEX
So many structural modules, yet so many restricted positions.
Ever been shipbuilding and thought, damn if I could only put that piece on the side, or why cant I put that piece on top instead of only the bottom, I want this piece !?
Well look no further!!! -SMSEX- series is here
1st release of structural modules flipped and turned into new positions for more creative shipbuilding.
I flipped and twisted the original modules in NIFskope and then added them into the game. You will find the new positions in the same menu as you find the original.
INSTALLATION:
Use a modmanager and set it up correctly, really just use a modmanager it’s almost 2024 no need to put loose files in your game folder.

COMPATIBILLITY:
Compatible with retextures
-I made new NIF’s, gave them their own Snaptemplates, FormID’s, GBFM’s, COBJ, Pack-in, Storagecells, etc. I also had to mod some vanilla module values so everything showed up correctly in the buildmenu. The values I modded are
Any mod that also edits that variable will screw up the buildmenu
It was alot of work, it was a steep learning curve, but with help from the Xedit Discord I made it happen.
Special thanks goes to Freschu, who helped me take the last hurdle in adding new NIF’s into the game. We both set out with the same idea but took different approaches. Therefore our mods are incompatible, I did not add extra/new snappoints.
But still check out his mod download and like it even if you dont use it, his help was instrumental in making this mod.
Our mods are compatible, however you wont see the extra snappoints added by Freschu on my added modules. They are only added to the “vanilla” modules. We have gone over the files, I made some small adjustments and there is no reason the two mods should not be compatible.
That said there is no official modding support yet, as solid as Xedit is and as powerfull a tool it is and as has been demonstrated by the mods made for Skyrim and Fallout 4. We are at the pre stages of mod support, there is no guarentee that a future update by Bethesda wont break things. There is also no guarentee some things might still not conflict between our mods.
If you encounter a bug answer the following:
-How big was your ship?
-Running any BAT commands for shipbuilding?
-Any mods that remove build limits?
-What other mods are you using?
-Did you manually install or use a Mod Manager?
-Anything other? Excessive amount of weapons or power, engines?
Before you post a bug or complain:
If you ran into an issue running both our mods together uninstall all other mods, use a clean INI with the minimal settings for running mods, no BAT commands and other stuff, pure vanilla game and just our 2 mods active.
(Same if you use either Fruschee’s or mine, uninstall all other mods and see if you can recreate the issue)
If the answer is:
Yes I still run into the same issue and I can consistently reproduce the issue! Then file a bugreport on this page with details what you did and when it happened
If the answer is NO after the above steps: Go complain on the page of one of the other mods you installed.
In this first release you will find all Deimos STRUCTURAL modules with new positions.
I will do the Structural modules first, then move on to Cargo modules & Fuel tanks.
Next up:
-Hope and Nova
-Stroud
-Tayio
Dont expect these within the next few days, alot of records need to be added and edited. Especially when they also have Equipment snaps they take extra time figuring out their new positions.
